Issue/Introduction

When deploying vRealize Network Insight (vRNI), vRealize Log Insight (vRLI), or vRealize Operations (vROps), FIPS mode may have been initially disabled. However, when adding an additional node via Fleet Management, the FIPS mode option appears enabled or is greyed out, preventing modification during the expansion process.

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x

Cause

This is expected behavior. FIPS compliance is a cluster-wide/component-wide setting. It cannot be modified for a single node during an expansion; all nodes in the component must maintain a consistent FIPS state.

Resolution

To change or verify the FIPS mode for the component:

1. Navigate to the Component Page for the relevant product (e.g., Operations for Networks).
2. Click the "..." (More Actions) menu.
3. Select the "Toggle FIPS Compliance mode" option.

Note: Changing this setting will incur a service restart across all components/nodes of that cluster to apply the compliance changes.
