Issue/Introduction

You may experience a failure when attempting to configure Single Sign-On (SSO) for an NSX workload component within VCF Operations (formerly VMware Aria Operations). This issue occurs in VMware Cloud Foundation Operations 9.1 environments.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1

Cause

This issue occurs because the underlying data collection on the NSX adapter fails due to an authentication rejection. The adapter returns an "incorrect username or password" error, preventing the SSO configuration from establishing a secure trust relationship with the NSX Manager.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, re-validate the credentials and certificate trust for the NSX adapter:

  1. Navigate to the Operate tab, then go to Administration > Integrations.
  2. Locate the specific NSX adapter experiencing the issue and click Edit.
  3. Select the configured NSX credential from the list, or create a new one if none existed.
  4. Click Validate Connection.
  5. When prompted with the Certificate Verification pop-up, click Accept.
  6. Click Save to apply the changes.
  7. Ensure the adapter status is showing Collecting.
  8. Return to the Manage tab and navigate to Fleet Management > Identity & Access > VCF SSO Overview.
  9. Verify that the NSX Component status now shows as Not Configured.
  10. Click on the Component Configuration tab, select the NSX Component, and click Configure Component.
  11. Within a few minutes, verify that the status updates to Configured.
