Issue/Introduction

  • You are performing a brownfield deployment via the VCF Installer using an existing vCenter Server.
  • While configuring the deployment using the VCF Installer, the "Distributed Switch" option—which is available during a Greenfield deployment—is missing. Below is the screen during the Greenfield deployment.

  • After the deployment, verifying the transport node configuration from the NSX Manager UI shows that the hosts only belong to the VLAN Transport Zone.

Environment

NSX 9.0
VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0

Cause

This is the expected behavior by design.

Resolution

If you want to use overlay networking features, please edit the Transport Node Profile from the NSX Manager UI to proceed with preparing the hosts.
