Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Aria Automation 8.x deployments fail with Original Task Error: "Allocation filter error: The storage requirements for hosts selection are not satisfied."
  • There is no storage profile visible in the Storage Profiles section of the Automation GUI > Infrastructure
  • Previously such deployments have been working correctly, despite no storage profile existing
  • Checking the Projects > Provisioning tab, the zone which is assigned to the project in question is of type Virtual Private Zone (VPZ)

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.18.x

Cause

Virtual Private Zones are deprecated in Aria Automation as of 8.12: see 8.12 release notes.

As newer Storage Profile / Datastore features have not been built into this deprecated resource type, deployments may fail due to issues which are otherwise solved.

For more info on this generic error, see KB 322116: VMware Aria Automation deployments failing on Allocation Filter error: The Storage Requirements for hosts selection are not satisfied

Resolution

Create the current provisioning resources:

  • Storage profile
  • Cloud Zone
  • Image mapping

and use these for provisioning on your Projects
