CA Privileged Access Manager (PAM)

Issue/Introduction

During regular operation, customers connected to endpoints through PAM may experience error

PAM-UI-1003: Unauthorized

in the GUI and be forced to reauthenticate to CA PAM to continue work

In parallel, the following error message may be reported in the session logs:

PAM-UPD-0006: This client has not responded to PAM messages. We have assumed the client has gone away, and the session is being reaped

All these errors are happening even though there is no apparent network disconnection error, with or without F5, ZScaler or other network proxies or load balancers

Environment

CA PAM 4.2.1 to 4.2.3

Cause

This may be a reoccurrence of defect DE640814 found for CA PAM 4.2.0, fixed in CA PAM 4.2.4 and for which a patch is released in 4.2.0.69

Resolution

Recommended path is to upgrade CA PAM to version 4.2.4 or to any 4.3.X version

If this is not possible, contact support to obtain a fix for your current version
