This KB is intended to clarify the steps involved in moving a vSAN cluster from one vCenter server to another when the source cluster utilizes VMware NSX.
Note: This article covers the migration of the vSAN ESXi host clusters (the transport nodes). If you are also moving your NSX management components (NSX Manager appliances and Edge nodes) to the new vCenter, please refer to Article 415062: Migrating NSX-T to a new vCenter for instructions on safely moving the management and control plane without losing configuration data.
Please refer to parent KB Moving a vSAN Cluster from one vCenter server to another for step 1 and 2
When utilizing NSX with vSphere Distributed Switch, you must gracefully remove the NSX vibs from the source Esxi transport nodes before moving the hosts.
To continue with the vSAN cluster migration from step 3.2 i.e migrate the ESXi hosts to a standard switch, please refer to: Moving a vSAN Cluster from one vCenter server to another
After the vSAN cluster migration and activation are complete, you may proceed to reinstall and configure NSX on the hosts.
