Why are several Msg 2144 issued in my CA Disk Backup or Archive jobs?
Msg 2144 is just informational and contains this information:
ADSDM673 2144 ATTEMPT TO PROCESS OTHER THAN FIRST PORTION OF MULTI-VOLUME DATA SET
ADSDM673 2144 DSN = (ddd) IS PART (nn) OF A MULTI-VOLUME DATA SET
In a SCAN REALVOLS process, as CA Disk scans each volume that is specified in your DSCL,
via the VOL= and/or SGNAME= parms, if an extent of a non-VSAM multi-vol data set is
encountered that is NOT the first extent portion, then CA Disk will output the 2144 message.
These messages are issued for every non-first volume portion of the multi-vol
data set that is encountered, until...
When the volume is scanned that contains the first extent portion of a non-VSAM
multi-vol data set, then that data set is processed in its entirety.
Now, the process is different for VSAM...
If any extent or part of a multi-vol VSAM data set is encountered, then CA Disk
will process the VSAM data set in its entirety.
There are no Sysparms that control/limit/change this CA Disk logic.
