Why are several Msg 2144 issued in Disk™ Backup and Restore Backup or Archive jobs?
Release: Disk™ Backup and Restore
Message 2144 is a just informational and contains the following information:
ADSDM673 2144 ATTEMPT TO PROCESS OTHER THAN FIRST PORTION OF MULTI-VOLUME DATA SET
ADSDM673 2144 DSN = (ddd) IS PART (nn) OF A MULTI-VOLUME DATA SET
In a SCAN REALVOLS process, as Disk scans each volume that is specified in your DSCL, via the VOL= and/or SGNAME= parms, if an extent of a non-VSAM multi-vol data set is encountered that is NOT the first extent portion, then Disk will output the 2144 message. When the volume is scanned that contains the first extent portion of a non-VSAM multi-vol data set, then that data set is processed in its entirety.
Now, the process is different for VSAM. If any extent or part of a multi-vol VSAM data set is encountered, then Disk will process the VSAM data set in its entirety.
There are no Sysparms that control/limit/change this Disk™ Backup and Restore logic.
