Issue/Introduction

Remediation fails with the following error:

"An error occurred while downloading VIB from URL http://<VC IP Address>:9084/vum/repository/hostupdate/vmw/vib20/icen/INT_bootbank_icen_x.x.x.vib.","errorTime":...}
A general system error occurred: "Staging failed for Host 'x.x.x.x'"

Environment

vSphere vCenter Server 8.x
vSphere vCenter Server 9.x

Cause

The host remediation fails due to a metadata mismatch.
This mismatch is caused by previously synchronized updates that do not align with the driver component.zip file manually imported into Lifecycle Manager (LCM).

Resolution

1 - SSH into the vCenter Server.

2 - Manually delete the VIB file from the following path:

/storage/updatemgr/patch-store/hostupdate/INT/vib20/icen/INT_bootbank_icen_xxxx.vib

3 - Reattempt the host remediation.

Additional Information

Impact is observed when working with the below drivers that were downloaded from the Broadcom Support Portal between September 1, 2025, and May 18, 2026:

Intel-Icen 2.2.2.0-1OEM.800
Intel-Icen 2.2.3.0-1OEM.900
