Issue/Introduction
- vCenter inventory reports: "
Unable to apply DRS resource settings on host." - ESXi
-/var/run/log/hostd.log shows: `CPU/Memory resource update failed: Unable to complete Sysinfo operation... Out of memory`. - ESXi
-/var/runlog/vmkernel.log shows: `Admission failure in path: host/user/vm.#######`.
Environment
- VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x
- VMware vCenter 8.x
Cause
The host has insufficient resources in the specific admission path to apply the DRS resource configuration.
Resolution
- Place the ESXi host into Maintenance Mode to evacuate all virtual machines from the affected ESXi host.
- Reboot the ESXi host to clear memory allocation issues.
