Worker node fails to obtain network IP address

Issue/Introduction

1. After migrating the VM from the NSX-V environment to NSX-T, a worker node VM in the vRealize Operations for Logs cluster is unable to obtain an IP address during initialization.
   
   
2. Verification through the vCenter Server console shows that no IP address is assigned to the VM's network interface.
   
   
3. 1. From vCenter, the VM web console shows the following message.
      
      
      
      
   2. When you try to power on the VM from the web console, it fails with a message indicating that the network needs to be configured.
      
      

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations: 8.1.1

TCI: 2.2

Cause

Virtual network adapter initialization failure resulting from an invalid port binding or localized port configuration anomaly on the originating ESXi host.

Resolution

Steps:

1. Power off the affected vRealize Operations for Logs worker node virtual machine.
   
   
2. Migrate the virtual machine to an alternate ESXi host within the cluster configuration.
   
   
3. Edit the virtual machine hardware settings and remove the non-functional virtual network adapter.
   
   
4. Add a new virtual network adapter to the virtual machine configuration and map it to the designated NSX segment.
   
   
5. Power on the virtual machine to allow the guest operating system to automatically reconfigure the interface and obtain a valid IP address.
