Issue/Introduction

  • Aria Suite Lifecycle (LCM) request stalled at the "Get node end point of VMware Identity Manager" phase during a vIDM power-on operation and failed with error code LCMVSPHERECONFIG1000084

    Request Failed
    LCMVSPHERECONFIG1000084
    Error Code: LCMVSPHERECONFIG1000084
Unable to extract the Virtual Machine Managed Object Reference ID, due to generic system error.
Failed to power on VM having hostname <VIDM-NODE-FQDN>. Retry after providing the required details.
Optionally, the check could be skipped for the given host, by setting the vidmPowerOnSkip to 'true' after powering on
    the VM directly from the
    vCenter.com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.exception.ConnectionEx https://<VIDM-NODE-FQDN>/sdk/vimService
    invocation failed with "java.net.UnknownHostException: <VIDM-NODE-FQDN>:
    Temporary failure in name resolution"

  • Disk triage confirms that the root (/) partition is healthy and not at 100% utilization across all three vIDM cluster nodes, ruling out common disk space exhaustion.

Environment

Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.18.x
VMware identity Manager 3.3.7

Cause

The failure is caused by an incorrect or misconfigured DNS entry for the vIDM nodes within the vCenter Server "vApp Options" properties.

Resolution

To resolve the endpoint initialization failure and successfully power on the vIDM environment, execute the following actions:

  1. Log into the vSphere Client, locate the vIDM virtual machines, and navigate to Configure > Settings > vApp options.
  2. Correct and update the correct DNS server entries.
  3. Initiate a new Power-On task directly from the Aria Suite Lifecycle console.
