"Download token" has been replaced by "Activation Code" for binary downloads in VCF Installer 9.1

Issue/Introduction

 This article clarifies the updated authentication method for downloading installation binaries in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Installer 9.1. Starting with this release, Download Tokens are no longer used for depot authentication.

Resolution

Starting with VCF 9.1, you must use an Activation Code instead of a Download Token to connect to online and offline depots.

Follow these steps to obtain and apply the code:

1. Generate a Software Depot ID using the VCF Installer UI or the VCF Download Tool CLI.
2. Log in to the VCF Business Services console.
3. Register the Software Depot ID to generate your unique Activation Code.
4. Apply the Activation Code in the VCF Installer to begin binary downloads.
