Issue/Introduction

Users encounter a synchronization failure when performing bulk updates or moving items between Rally and Jira. This typically occurs after adding new project folders to an existing automation.

Symptoms

When performing bulk updates or moves from Rally to Jira using ConnectALL, the synchronization fails with the following error: Project ID cannot be null or empty

This typically occurs after adding new project folders to an existing automation.

Environment

  • ConnectALL On Prem
  • ConnectALL SaaS

Cause

The issue occurs because the Project field mapping is set to uni-directional. During bulk updates or moves involving new project folders, the integration fails to correctly pass or validate the Project ID required by the Jira API.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, update the field mapping for the Project field to allow bi-directional communication, which ensures the Project ID is correctly synchronized during bulk operations.

  1. Navigate to the Field Mappings tab of your Rally to Jira automation.
  2. Locate the Project field mapping.
  3. Change the mapping direction from Uni-directional to Bi-directional.
  4. Note: Keep the Value Mapping for the project field as Uni-directional if you only want values to flow one way.
  5. Save the automation and trigger a sync.
