Hide Tabs in Asset Portfolio Management

Issue/Introduction

If administrators want to hide the Tabbed sections in IT Asset Manager this can be achieved.

The tabs in ITAM are:

• Model
• Asset
• Legal Document
• Directory

Environment

All Versions of IT Asset Manager

Resolution

1. Log as admin | Administration | User/Role Management | Role Search | Click on the role (create a new one if necessary) that you want hide tabs.

2. Set proper permissions to the role. Ensure that the role has only the required permissions for that role

3. Click on Role Configuration | Click on "Select New" and add the following configurations:

To hide Directory tab: Company - Access Denied | Contact - Access Denied | Location - Access Denied | Organization - Access Denied | Site - Access Denied
To hide Legal Document tab: Legal Document [All Templates] - Access Denied
To hide Model tab: Model [All Families] - Access Denied
To hide Asset tab: Asset [All Families] - Access Denied

Note: The role requires permissions to at least one tab. Do not add all of the configuration details listed above to the role.

4. Click on Save button

Note: After assigning the configurations to the role, the Out-of-the-box asset search wouldn't open for the end user (on that role), the admin needs to create a custom asset search for them.

5. Log into ITAM with a user that has the custom role assigned.
