Issue/Introduction

  • After upgrading VCF Operations from version 9.0.2 to 9.1, the Log Management version intermittently shows as both 9.0.2 and 9.1.0.
  • While navigating to Build > Lifecycle > VCF Management > Upgrade, the UI displays: "Ready for upgrade – Precheck failed."
  • Upon clicking "Full Details," the following error is observed:

Failed to start task (error may be truncated): Unexpected HTTP response (Reference ID: BEA6723E) - Status: 400 BAD_REQUEST, reason: The component is already at version 9.1.0.0.25346055. No upgrade is needed. Resolution: Specify a target version that is higher than the current version

  • Additionally,/sddcupgrade/console-log-######.log shows the following errors:

    ERROR sddc-upgrade-service ## [lcm@#### scPath="ops" thread="https-jsse-nio-####-exec-#" logger="c.b.v.l.s.u.s.u.UpgradeServiceImpl" method="performComponentAction:##"] [] - Source version 9.1.0.0.25346055 is equal to target version 9.1.0.0.25346055. No upgrade needed.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1.0

Cause

The upgrade task fails due to a temporary mismatch in the inventory version caused by a manual retry of an older, failed task (for the auto-import of legacy components). This retry overwrites the system's recorded version to an older version, tricking the system into offering an unnecessary upgrade. Before you can execute this upgrade, a background inventory refresh corrects the version, causing the subsequent upgrade attempt to fail.

Resolution

This issue will be resolved in the upcoming VCF Operations version 9.1 EP2 release.

To implement a workaround prior to the release of 9.1 EP2, Please raise a Broadcom Support Support Request noting this Article ID (443484) in the problem description. For more information, see Creating and managing Broadcom support cases
