Issue/Introduction

You notice that one of your applications faces intermittent metrics loss. When you check the configuration, it appears to be correct, yet problematic agents show frequent connections and disconnections to or from different EM collectors.

Environment

  • DX SaaS,
  • DX O2

Cause

The issue occurs because the network environment lacks the necessary whitelisting for agents on the Cloud Proxies. This prevents stable communication between the agents and the collectors, leading to intermittent connectivity and metrics loss.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must verify and update your network configuration:

  1. Identify Connection Stability: Review your logs to determine if agents are flapping (connecting and disconnecting) between different collectors.
  2. Verify Network Whitelisting: Work with your network team to ensure that all agents are explicitly whitelisted on the Cloud Proxies.
  3. Validate Firewall Rules: Confirm that no firewall rules or security policies are intermittently blocking the traffic between the application agents and the DX SaaS environment.

If the issue persists after whitelisting, verify that the agents have a stable path to the collectors without interference from intermediate network appliances.
