NSX_VDL2 Agent Degraded Due to Missing Gateway IP in TEP IP Pool

Issue/Introduction

• NSX_VDL2 is reporting a degraded state for the NSX prepared host transport node. The UI displays the NSX_VDL2 agent status as DEGRADED.
• The following error is observed in the NSX Manager logs: /var/log/proton/nsxapi.log

Cause

The VDL2 agent and host status are degraded because the gateway IP or MAC address is not set for the configured TEP IP pool.

Resolution

To remediate this issue, assign a valid gateway IP address to the associated IP address pool by executing the following procedure:

• Log in to the NSX Manager UI with administrative privileges.

• Navigate to Networking > IP Management > IP Address Pools.

• Click the name of the IP pool you wish to edit.

• Go to the Subnets column and click the Set link for that pool.

• Click Add Subnet and select IP Ranges.

• Add the Gateway IP.

• Click Apply, and finally click Save.
