Issue/Introduction

Users cannot log in to or access the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 License Server virtual machine via SSH or an interactive console.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1

Cause

This is by design.

The License Server is a secure appliance. To protect internal data, all remote access capabilities—including SSH access, root user login, and interactive TTY access—are intentionally disabled. The appliance is not intended for direct login or operation by customers.

Resolution

No action is required. Access to the appliance OS is not necessary for standard operations.

  • Health Verification: Open the Web Console of the License Server virtual machine from the vSphere Client. If the console screen displays no errors under Service Status and Connectivity, the appliance is functioning normally.
