Issue/Introduction

  •  SSH from VC to a Supervisor Control Plane node, error "No route to host" is observed.
  •  Ping test from the Vcenter to the Supervisor Control Plane node shows a "Time to Live (TTL) exceeded" error.
  • Traceroute shows packets bouncing between routers.

Environment

vSphere ESXI
vCenter Server

Cause

A misconfiguration in the physical network routing tables caused packets to bounce endlessly between routers (routing loop) until the Time to Live (TTL) hit zero.

Resolution

Engage your physical networking team to audit the routing paths and resolve the loop.
