Issue/Introduction

In the Azure probe, the current alarm messages appear as a single long string. When a test alert is created in Azure Monitor and successfully forwarded to DX UIM using the azure probe, the resulting alarm message appears as a single, continuous string of text that is difficult to read.

Ideally the probe should have enhanced formatting (line breaks/spacing) so attributes like Alert Name, Severity, and Resource Name appear on separate lines.

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4.*
  • azure probe version : 4.0 and earlier

Cause

Product Limitation / Enhanced

Resolution

The attached updated azure build  version 4.00-T2 includes enhanced formatting and attribute mapping for forwarded Azure alerts.

Steps to apply the build:

Deactivate the probe: In the DX UIM Infrastructure Manager or Admin Console, locate the azure probe and set it to a deactivated state.

  1. Deploy the new build: Download and deploy the azure-4.00-T2.zip (or higher) build to the robot running the azure monitoring.

  2. Activate the probe: Set the probe back to an activated state.

  3. Verify formatting: Trigger a test alert in Azure Monitor. The forwarded alarm in the UIM Alarm Console should now display attributes such as Alert Name, Severity, and Resource Name on separate lines, improving readability.

Enhanced Metric Details and Logging

  • The updated build includes improved mapping for the DESCRIPTION attribute.

  • Formatting changes for line breaks are hardcoded into the probe logic to ensure they are rendered correctly in the UIM console
