Issue/Introduction

  • Attempting Avi Bundle Upload on SDDC Manager fails with "does NOT match with the element checksum"

Task Details:

Name: Upload BUNDLE - NSX_ALB:31.2.1-25015167
Type: BUNDLE_UPLOAD
Status:FAILED
Error: Message: Patch file /home/vcf/avi/controller-31.2.1-9148.ova checksum <checksum value> does NOT match with the element checksum <checksum value>

  • /var/log/vmware/vcf/lcm/lcm-debug.log: (on SDDC Manager)

YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS ERROR [vcf_lcm,<OP ID>,8bbe,bundleId=########-####-####-####-############] [c.v.e.s.l.f.common.FileChec
ksumUtil,Scheduled-9] bundle checksum does NOT match the manifest value

Environment

VCF 9.0

Avi Load Balancer

Cause

A checksum (or hash) is a string of letters and numbers that acts as a unique digital fingerprint for a file. This mismatch of the checksum is caused if the files are partially uploaded and LCM is unable to validate.

Resolution

The bundleId on the SDDC Manager needs to be cleaned and followed by re-upload of the Avi Bundle.

  1. Perform a cleanup of the stale/corrupt bundle on the SDDC Manager. Refer to How to clean up old/ installed bundles in SDDC manager using Bundle Cleanup Utility

Note: Use the bundleId (highlighted) from the lcm-debug.log

  2. Once the cleanup is complete, proceed with the Avi Bundle Upload
