vSAN License Displaying as Evaluation Mode under VVF

Issue/Introduction
A vSAN cluster licensed through VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) displays the vSAN license as Evaluation License in the vSphere Client. The displayed expiration date may appear significantly longer than the VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) subscription term.
Administrators may be unable to update the vSAN license and may be concerned that vSAN is operating on an evaluation license or that licensing is not applied correctly.

- VMware vSphere Foundation 8.x
- VMware vSphere Foundation 9.x
Resolution
This behavior is expected when vSAN capacity is provided through a VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) subscription.
When vSAN Trial Capacity entitlement is being used under VVF, the vSphere Client may display:
- License Type as Evaluation License
- A vSAN expiration date that is significantly longer than the VVF subscription term
This is a licensing presentation behavior and does not indicate that vSAN is running on an expired or unsupported license. The displayed vSAN evaluation license can be safely ignored.
The actual entitlement and support period are governed by the VVF subscription. As long as the VVF subscription remains active and the vSAN cluster is operating within the entitled vSAN capacity limits, all vSAN features continue to function normally without impact.
No separate vSAN license key needs to be applied when using the vSAN capacity entitlement included with VVF.
If additional vSAN capacity beyond the VVF entitlement is required, a separate vSAN capacity license must be purchased and applied.
