This article explains how to upgrade an ESXi host using Lifecycle Manager.

Resolution

You can upgrade by following the steps below.

1. Log in to vSphere Client.

2. Select Lifecycle Manager (the hamburger icon).

3. Upload the offline bundle (zip) as the depot image.

4. File uploads are possible via the "Import Updates" action.

5. Select "Inventory" from the hamburger icon.

6. Select the cluster where the host is registered.

7. Select the Updates tab.

8. Select Host > Image.

9. Click the "Edit" button in the image frame.

10. In Image Editing, select the uploaded Base ESXi Image.

11. Click the Save button when editing is complete.

12. Click Run Pre-check in Image Compliance.

13. The check is complete when "Pre-check completed" is displayed.

13. If there are no problems in the pre-check, click Modify from the Actions to the right of the ESXi hostname.
