Users assigned to a custom "Power User" or non administrator role are unable to see or access the Topology option within the Performance Management (PM) Portal, even after assigning
Topology-related privileges to their user role and clearing the browser cache. Temporarily elevating the user to an "Administrator" role resolves the issue, but this violates least-privilege
security practices.
DX NetOps Performance Management: All Versions.
This issue is caused by a conflict between specific administrative privileges and tenant selection in the NetOps portal. If the custom Power User role includes the "Administer Tenants" privilege, the portal requires the user to explicitly select a specific Tenant to view the Topology option. If the environment is only utilizing the Default Tenant, the Topology menu item will
remain hidden for these users.
To resolve this issue and grant the Power User role access to the Topology view without granting full Administrator access, follow these steps:
1. Log in to the NetOps PM Portal as a full Administrator.
2. Navigate to the Role Management or User Administration section.
3. Edit the problematic custom role (e.g., Power User or IT Engineer).
4. Review the assigned privileges and remove the "Administer Tenants" privilege from the role.
5. Ensure that the explicit Topology privileges are successfully added and saved to the role.
6. Have the affected user refresh their portal session or log out and log back in. TheTopology view should now be fully visible and accessible under the default tenant.
