Issue/Introduction

CA Directory servers (multi-master mode) crash simultaneously or fail to respond to stop commands. The following errors are observed in the logs:

DSA_E1370 Fatal signal received (due to large number of warn message "WARN : Error verifying password - not updating password policy attributes").

Environment

CA Directory 14.1.06

Cause

The crash is triggered by a corner case in memory management when a high volume of specific warning messages occurs:
WARN : Error verifying password - not updating password policy attributes

This warning typically happens when a user attempts to bind with a password, but the 'userPassword' attribute is not set for that user. In rare cases, a flood of these requests leads to memory fragmentation or corruption, causing the 'dxserver' process to receive a fatal signal and terminate.

Resolution

Engineering team provided a hot fix to resolve this issue as part of defect DE671034. If you face the same issue then please create a support ticket and request for the fix.

Additional Information

The fix is included in CA Directory 14.1 SP8 version.
