In VCF Operations, after configuring log collection in the vCenter Server adapter, the Log Collection tab incorrectly displays a "Failed" status in the user interface.
Background log collection continues to function properly despite this UI state.
The following exact error message is generated in the UI:
Failed to get the status for VC log collection configuration. No permission to check the configuration.VCF Operations 9.x
VCF Operations for Logs 9.x
The vCenter adapter is configured to connect using a restricted or Read-Only user account rather than a full administrator account. The VCF Operations UI status check mechanism lacks the necessary privileges to validate the log collection configuration with the restricted account, triggering the permission error.
To resolve this issue, the service account assigned to the vCenter adapter must be granted the appropriate minimum privileges required for integration.
Update the role assigned to the vCenter service account to include the specific privileges outlined in the official documentation:
Log in to the vSphere Client as an administrator.
Edit the custom role assigned to the VCF Operations service account.
Ensure all necessary integration permissions are explicitly enabled.
