Issue/Introduction

Security Analytics is heavily dependent on all of the hardware pieces working correctly in tandem.  If the system needs to be powered down for maintenance or if the whole system needs to be moved to another location, powering down and powering back up the entire stack is critical for maintaining data and hardware integrity.

Environment

Security Analytics with any attached storage

Resolution

  1. Stop capture on the sensor from the Capture Summary page.
  2. Shutdown the sensor using the CLI command:  shutdown -h now
  3. Once the sensor is fully powered off, any attached storage may also be powered off using the power switches at the rear of the array.

Power supplies hold a residual charge often for many seconds.  Before powering any equipment back on, wait at least 3 minutes.

To power the entire stack back on, do the following:

  1. Power on the storage arrays and wait at least 3 minutes for everything to boot up
  2. Power on the sensor.
