vCenter Server 8.x not showing up in vCenter Systems section under Licensing ➔ Licenses & Registration ➔ Version 9+

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations 9.1.x, a vCenter Server 8.x instance does not appear in the vCenter Systems section under Licensing ➔ Licenses & Registration ➔ Version 9+

Environment

• VCF Operations 9.1.x

Cause

This is an expected behavior. The vCenter Systems table under Licensing only displays vCenter Server instances running version 9.0 or higher. vCenter Server instances running version 8.x or lower are not displayed.

Resolution

To assign licenses to pre-version 9 vCenter Server instances, use the following steps:

1. Navigate to the Pre-Version 9 section under Licensing.
2. Select the appropriate license from the list.
3. Click the ADD LICENSE TO VCENTER button and follow on screen instructions.
