Problem:
When doing a new install if CA Intertest batch r 9.1 the receive step EJ64RECD fails with GIM39001E ** SYSMOD CAVH911 WAS NOT RECEIVED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SPECIFIED ON THE SELECT OPERAND. CAVH911 NOT RECEIVED FUNCTION NO APPLICABLE ++VER.
During the install you can receive three FMIDS. CAMR910, CAVH910 and CAVH911. In this case the client already installed CAVH910 with CA Symdump Batch r 9.1. So when installing CA Intertest batch r 9.1 the client decided not to install CAVH910 again to save on having to apply maintenance for the same FMID in two SMP/E environments.
Environment:
Z/OS
Cause:
When installing CA Intertest batch r 9.1 if you are receiving the CAVH911 FMID then the CAVH910 is required.
Resolution:
Receive all three FMIDS during the base install CAMR910, CAVH910 and CAVH911.
Under the current product design that configuration is not supported(installing CAVH911 without the CAVH910 FMID).
The common symbolic file FMID CAVH910 is shipped with several CA Testing Tools products ( CA Intertest and CA Symdump CICS and CA Intertest and CA Symdump batch). Most clients end up installing multiple versions of the FMID since they do individual product installs. This then causes extra work when applying maintenance and can lead to problems if an older version of the common component is added to the link list. Clients have to make sure all versions of the common component are at the same maintenance level. Some clients only apply the maintenance to one version and that is the one they put in the link list.
Several clients have raised this concern about the common FMID and this has been fixed in the next release version 10. In version 10 the four products (CA Intertest and CA Symdump CICS and CA Intertest and CA Symdump batch) will all be part of the same PAX file install. From this V 10 PAX file you will be able to install all four products at the same time which will eliminate having multiple versions for the common FMID.
