Issue/Introduction

Understanding the considerations, limits, and matching behaviors when Content Filtering policies are combined with dictionaries in Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG).

 

Resolution

SMG has the following system limits and constraints:

• Dictionary Capacity: The system supports a maximum of 100 dictionaries.
• Word Capacity: Each dictionary can contain up to 10,000 words or phrases.
• Character Limit per Entry: A single word or phrase cannot exceed 255 characters. Exceeding this limit will trigger the following system error: "The word or phrase is too long. Please provide a word or phrase that is no more than 255 characters long."
