Environment

VMware ESXi 7.x
VMware ESXi 8.x
VMware vCenter Server Appliance 7.x
VMware vCenter Server Appliance 8.x

Cause

The Dell EMC NAS VAAI is a 3rd party component that must be loaded from Lifecycle Management and then added to the vLCM/Single Image cluster.

Resolution

  • Obtain the Dell EMC NAS VAAI Module for ESX Server from Dell EMC directly.
  • Before uploading to the VCSA, make sure the file obtained from Dell EMC does not contain a ZIP file within a ZIP file (embedded).  You should only proceed with the ZIP file that has the "vib20" directory under it.  You may need to extract it from the original ZIP file downloaded.
  • Open the vCenter GUI, select the menu in the upper left hand corner and then select Lifecycle Manager.
  • Click Actions and then Import Updates.
  • Browse to the location where the proper ZIP file as indicated above and then select Import.
  • You should now see the Component listed in the Components section with the show Independent components.
  • Add the component as described in the "Working with Images" TechDoc.
  • Save the Image and apply to the ESXi hosts in the cluster.
