Issue/Introduction

When creating or modifying an upgrade plan in Tanzu Hub, attempting to change a product tile version (such as the VMware Network Container Plug-in, NCP) fails. The UI displays an error banner under the Plan Overview section, and the matrix fails to populate.

The following error message is displayed:

VERSION_NOT_FOUND : Unknown error occurred

Cause

This issue occurs because of missing, incomplete, or incorrect compatibility metadata published within the product tiles.

The Upgrade Planner relies entirely on backward and forward compatibility declarations provided in each tile's metadata to calculate valid upgrade paths. When a tile version lacks these declarations, or contains schema errors, the backend engine fails to map the dependency tree, throwing a VERSION_NOT_FOUND exception.

Resolution

This is a known issue being addressed across the Tanzu Platform tile ecosystem to ensure all tile versions publish accurate and complete compatibility lifecycles. This KB article will be updated once the fixed is released. Please contact Tanzu Support if you need additional information.
