Apache AGE extension availability in VMware Tanzu for Postgres 18.x

Issue/Introduction

If you are upgrading to the VMware Tanzu for Postgres 18.x series may find that the Apache AGE (A Graph Extension) is missing from the distribution.

While the extension was previously available and bundled with Postgres 16.x (e.g., vmware-postgres16-apache_age-extension-1.6.0-1.el9.x86_64.rpm), it is not present in early 18.x releases such as 18.2.0 or 18.3.0.

Resolution

The Apache AGE extension is scheduled to be officially bundled and supported starting with VMware Tanzu for Postgres 18.4.

• Target Release: 18.4.0
• Availability: Expected by the end of May 2026.
• Recommendation: Customers requiring graph database capabilities in the 18.x series should plan to upgrade to version 18.4.0 or later once it is published to the Broadcom Support Portal.
