Issue/Introduction

  • The VCF Installer UI fails at the step "Retrieve the status of VCF Operations collector Binary Source mapping request"

  • The following error is observed in /var/log/vmware/vcf/domainmanager/domainmanager.log on the VCF Installer:
Error while retrieving request detail for request ID [requestId] org.springframework.web.client.HttpClientErrorException$NotFound: 404 : "{"status":"","message":"Request with vmid not found.","errorCode":"LCM_REQUEST_API_ERROR0001","errorLabel":"Request does not exist."}"

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.x
VCF Installer

Cause

The issue occurs during brownfield VCF 9 deployments when the Fleet Manager is manually redeployed or replaced out-of-band.

Because the VCF Installer caches the requestId associated with the original binary mapping task, it attempts to poll a stale requestId that no longer exists in the new instance's database.

This results in a 404 Not Found error because the new Fleet Manager instance has an empty local database with no historical record of the task ID being queried.

Resolution

To resolve the state mismatch following a Fleet Manager redeployment, open a Support Request (SR) with Broadcom Support.
