Issue/Introduction

The task "Configure VMware Aria Operations for Logs Agent on VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle" fails in the SDDC Manager UI with the following error output

Cause: Failed to configure log forwarding:/var/lib/loginsight-agent/liagent.ini failed:
java.io.IOException: Pipe closed java.io.IOException: Pipe closed Pipe closed

Environment

VMware SDDC Manager 5.x
VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 
Aria Operations for Logs

Cause

A disconnected state is observed on the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance due to the expiration of the root password. Consequently, connectivity and authentication access from the SDDC Manager to the node are lost, resulting as broken pipe exceptions.

Resolution

  1. Access the console of the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance.

  2. Reset the expired root password.

  3. Re-establish and verify SSH connectivity between the SDDC Manager and the Aria Suite Lifecycle node using the new credentials.

  4. From the SDDC Manager UI, retry the failed "Configure VMware Aria Operations for Logs Agent" task.
