Issue/Introduction

When trying to enable CPU HotAdd on a VM, the option is missing

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

Between versions 7.0 and 8.0 the HotAdd location was moved.

Resolution

In ESXi 7.0 / Virtual Hardware version 17, 18 and 19 the HotAdd enablement is located here (Edit Settings > CPU):

In ESXi 8.0 / Virtual Hardware version 20 and newer it's located here (Edit Settings > VM Options > CPU Topology):
