Issue/Introduction

When performing a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Management Services deployment following an SDDC Manager upgrade, the deployment process hangs at 53%.

The current task attempting to run is "Import VCF Operations in Fleet Lifecycle".

When navigating to Operate > Administration > Control panel > Management tasks, you observe the following symptoms:

  • The task Configure components initially fails with a "certificate unknown" error for VMware Aria Operations for Logs.
  • Upon restarting the tasks from Management Tasks in the Control Panel, the deployment throws LCMVRLICONFIG and LCMVRNICONFIG errors.

  • The error reports that it is unable to find the component with the ID <component id> form Operations for Logs

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)

VCF Operations 9.1.0

Cause

Certain components (such as vRA and vRLI) were manually replaced or upgraded while the deployment task was actively running. This concurrent activity resulted in a metadata mismatch regarding the certificates, which caused the "Deploy VCF Management components" task to fail repeatedly.

Resolution

To resolve the issue contact Broadcom support for further assistance.

Additional Information

Note: Please refrain from restarting the older, failed tasks. Doing so will generate additional failed management tasks in the system. Because the new workflow is entirely complete, those older tasks can be safely ignored.
