NSX Federation Sync Fails With NullPointerException in NSX UI

Issue/Introduction

Environments utilizing Multi-Site NSX Federation experience global synchronization transaction blockages or synchronization state failures. When checking the status, replication tasks terminate abruptly

Symptoms: 

• Java lang NullPointerException error in UI when trying to refresh affected T1 Gateway.
• Status for one or more T1 Gateway shows Failed

Cause

This issue occurs due to a corrupted configuration entry within the NSX Federation settings. Specifically, an internal site tracking index contains an incomplete or malformed entry that lists an index number but is missing its corresponding resource destination path. Due to this, the system encounters this incomplete entry while processing synchronization tasks, it triggers a NullPointerException and halts the replication process. 

Resolution

Open a case with Broadcom Support referencing this KB.
