Issue/Introduction

When sending an empty file to an FTP node using the PDF wrapper, a file is sent to the destination printer but can not be opened as a PDF. When examined for content, There is No PTF header data, and the file is completely blank when we expect to see at least a PDF header.

Environment

OM Spool 14

Cause

This is intended behavior. When Spool detects that there is no content in a file, it skips processing it further, such as engaging the PDF wrapper to prevent internal errors. This behavior was made in version 12 as RO96692, and persists in 14.

Resolution

To purge empty files before they are sent on to their destination, add XEQOPT=8 to the ESFPARM parameter file.
