Process for downgrade of Vantage SP web client to a prior version after new version installation.

Issue/Introduction

Our upgrade standards mandate that we include a backout procedure.  Please provide a process for downgrade from Vantage SP web client latest version to prior version should we have to do so.

Resolution

For each installation of the Vantage SP web client, a new folder with the Tomcat server version name is created inside runtime folder (on USS) . For example, if the runtime folder is in the /usr/cai/vantagegmi/runtime path then a new directory (folder) is created during latest Vantage SP web client's installation.
/usr/cai/vantagegmi/runtime/apache-tomcat-<version>

Also during the web client installation, the installation wizard will ask for the Vantage SP web client's database location. For example, /usr/cai/vantagegmi/webclientdb

Take a backup of the above database folder (above path might be different, but make sure that your webclientdb folder is backed out) before the installation starts.

In case, if there are some errors with reading the webclientdb when prior release of VANWEBUI proc is started then:

1. Take the backup of current webclientdb (this is from latest version) to a new location.

2.After that replace the webclientdb folder with your original backup of of prior version webclientdb folder, which was used during the installation.  

3. Restart the prior version VANWEBUI proc.

The tomcat server folder is different , but can be same webclientdb folder for both the versions. So taking a backup of webclientdb folder before the installation would be helpful during the backout.

Additional Information

Make sure that if there are any PTFs to apply. After installing the PTF, a new version of VANWEBUI (Vantage SP web client started task) proc is added to  yourHLQ.CCTUSAMP library. Please copy this to your user proc library and customize it. DO NOT modify the existing  version VANWEBUI proc.

In case of back out to Vantage SP web client prior version, then use the original VANWEBUI proc instead of recently updated for latest version from your user proc library.
