VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

Users may experience the following symptoms in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations 9.x:

  • Workload domain operations to Create New or Import a vCenter remain stuck in a loading state

  • Navigating to Fleet Management > Lifecycle > VCF Instances results in a blank page or a spinning loading icon.

  • Navigating to Fleet Management > Passwords or Certificates fails to load the components for the VCF instance. VCF management components loads without any issues.

  • Any further operations involving the SDDC will fail, returning the error "Service or view is not available at this time"

Environment

VCF 9.x

Cause

VCF Operations is unable to load data from the SDDC because the SDDC Manager UI is down. Any communication failure or service outage on the SDDC Manager directly impacts VCF Operations' functionality.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please verify the status of the SDDC Manager.

  • Verify that the SDDC Manager VM has not been powered off.

  • Reference the article Troubleshooting SDDC Manager UI access Issues for further diagnostic steps.

  • Verify network connectivity between VCF Operations and the SDDC Manager Ensure that forward and reverse DNS resolution is functioning correctly and that required communication ports (such as port 443) are open and not blocked by an intervening firewall.

  • If necessary, perform a reboot of the SDDC Manager VM. Once completed, verify that the appliance is fully operational by successfully accessing the SDDC Manager UI.

After confirming the SDDC Manager is online, retry accessing the VCF instances from VCF Operations.
