Unable to reindex the EDMs after upgrade to 25.1

Issue/Introduction

After reinstalling remote indexer to the new version and attempting to reindex the following error is observed.

Unrecognized option "--add-exports=java.xml/jdk.xml.internal=ALL-UNNAMED"

 

 

Cause

During installation it will ask for the path to the JRE, and if an incompatible JRE is selected it should be prompt with the same error indicated above.

"--add-exports=java.xml/jdk.xml.internal=ALL-UNNAMED"

In this case after the upgrade the configuration files was pointing to an incompatible JRE. 

jvmDirectory=C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataLossPrevention\ServerJRE\1.8.0_181

Resolution

Edit the Configuration.txt file located at:

C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataLossPrevention\Indexers\25.1.00000\Protect\config\RemoteEDMIndexer\

modify the jvmDirectory path to the path of the newer JRE that came with DLP

jvmDirectory=C:\Program Files\AdoptOpenJRE\jdk-21.0.4+7-jre
