Issue/Introduction

Unable to apply licenses properly after upgrading VCF Operations to version 9.1. An error message occurs for the VMware vSAN and VMware Cloud Foundation licenses:
This license is no longer associated with this VCF Operations instance, but could not be fully removed. To complete removal, assign a new license to the vCenter instances which have license assigned to them.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1.x

Cause

When the VCF Operations instance is running in disconnected mode, licenses cannot be updated automatically. You must update your licenses manually by generating a usage file from VCF Operations, uploading this file to VCF Business Services Console followed by generating license file from VCF Business Service Console and importing this license file into the VCF Operations instance.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow the steps mentioned below:
  1. Generate a Usage File from the VCF Operations UI by clicking on GENERATE USAGE FILE button:

  2. Upload the Usage File to the VCF Business Services Console by clicking on UPLOAD USAGE FILE button:

  3. Download the corresponding license file from the VCF Business Services Console by clicking on DOWNLOAD button:

  4. Import the downloaded license file into VCF Operations by clicking on IMPORT LICENSE FILE button:

  5. Assign the licenses to the vCenter to clear the errors.
