Issue/Introduction

  • Adding a VM replication to an existing vApp replication configured in Cloud Director Availability (VCDA) fails with the error below:

Could not compose a RT vApp for vApp replication with id 'C4VAPP-########-####-####-####-########8cbc'

  • The vApp replication ID in the error 'C4VAPP-########-####-####-####-########8cbc'does not match the vApp replication ID on the VCDA UI for the existing vApp replication.
  • When trying to verify the existing RT-vApp via API call on the destination VMware Cloud Director you get the error below:

GET https://vcd.example.com/api/vApp/vapp-<RT vApp ID from VCDA UI>

    ERROR

    404 Not Found

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.7.x

Cause

This issue occurs if one or multiple of the VM disks of the VM belonging to the existing replicated vApp refers in the Destination VMware Cloud Director database to a Storage Policy which no longer exists in the Organization VDC where the VM is located.

Resolution

The workaround for this issue requires modification of the Destination VMware Cloud Director database.
