soitoolbox.exe removed after uninstalling SOI 4.3 CU3

Issue/Introduction

When uninstalling a SOI Cumulative Update (Eg.CU3 - Uninstall_SOI_4_3_CU3.exe) the uninstaller removes the soitoolbox.exe utility. Also observed that the jre folder is missing after this process. It seems that the uninstaller is removing core components that should remain for the product to function.

 

Does SOI 4.3 support rollback CU?

Service Operations Insight (SOI) 4.3 CU*

Cause

Rolling back or uninstalling patches in CA Service Operations Insight (SOI) is not a supported operation. While an uninstaller may be present, the product does not support a rollback mechanism for Cumulative Updates, and attempting to do so leads to the removal of critical application files.

Resolution

Patch rollback or uninstallation is not supported in SOI 4.3, consistent with policies for previous versions like SOI 4.2. Although an uninstaller file may exist in the directories, it should not be used as it does not perform a clean reversion to the previous state.

Additional Information

Note: The lack of support for patch rollback is a known product constraint. Future patch documentation is being updated to explicitly state that uninstallation is not supported to prevent similar issues.
