Users may experience failed email notifications if the SMTP server is temporarily unavailable.
In all current versions of CA Automic Applications Manager, the system does not automatically retry the connection, leading to lost notifications.
CA Automic Applications Manager 9.6.x and below
In current versions of Applications Manager, there was no built-in mechanism to queue or retry SMTP notifications if the initial connection to the mail server failed.
A new functionality will be introduced in CA Automic Applications Manager (AM) version 10. AM version 10 has a tentative release date of Dec 2026 / Jan 2027.
The new functionality includes:
Notification Queuing: If the SMTP server is unavailable, notifications are stored in the database.
Retry Configuration: Users can define specific parameters for retries:
Number of Tries: Specifies how many times AM will attempt to connect (default is 1).
Time Between Retries: Specifies the delay between each attempt.
Notifications will be automatically sent once the SMTP server becomes available, provided the retry limit has not been reached.
