Workload domain inventory tree not displayed in VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

This issue typically occurs following the completion of the Import an Existing vCenter to Create a Workload Domain, when an existing vCenter Server is imported to create a workload domain.

After the import, you may observe the following

• The workload domain does not list the vCenter name.
• "System managed credential" and "Activate Network & Flow Collection" options are disabled.
  
  
• Attempting to reach the workload domain through the lifecycle operation in the VCF Operations Fleet Management UI results in the
  error: "Domain not configured. Please configure the domain to use this capability."
  
  
• Workload domain name is visible in Inventory, but no child inventory objects are shown

Environment

VCF Installer: 9.1
VCF: 9.1

Cause

In VCF 9, VCF Operations relies on workload domain vCenter integrations to collect and display inventory information.

Although the workload domain deployment task may complete successfully from the SDDC Manager workflow perspective, the inventory synchronization in VCF Operations may not complete properly.

As a result:

• The workload domain object is visible
• But the inventory tree is not populated in VCF Operations

Resolution

Reconnect the workload domain integration from VCF Operations.

1. Open VCF Operations
2. Navigate to:

Administration → Integrations → Accounts → VMware Cloud Foundation

3. Open the corresponding VMware Cloud Foundation Adapter
4. Locate the affected workload domain
5. Click the three-dot menu (...) in front of the workload domain and select Edit
6. In the vCenter tab, click VALIDATE CONNECTION. If the validation succeeds, click SAVE
7. Verify the workload domain inventory tree is displayed correctly in Operations → Inventory

For VCF 9.0 environments, it is recommended to use VCF Operations as the primary interface for workload domain related operations whenever possible.
