Issue/Introduction

Users may observe that Datacom Server instances allocate and populate the TCPTRACE file with DSV00147I messages, even when the startup parameter TRACEON=NO is specified. The concern is that tracing appears to be active despite being explicitly disabled in the server configuration.

The DSV00147I message contains information similar to the following:

DSV00147I-#######-tid-##### THID: ################

Cause

This behavior is normal. Although these messages appear in the TCPTRACE output, DSV00147I is an informational message and not a result of the tracing facility.
The message identifies that a new subtask or Task Control Block (TCB) has started within the Datacom Server address space.

The message provides the following identifiers for debugging and error analysis:

  • TCB address: The memory address of the Task Control Block.
  • Thread-id: The unique identifier for the thread.
  • ClientIP: The IP address of the workstation or client (added by PTF LU19035).

Resolution

There is currently no option available to entirely suppress the DSV00147I informational message. It is issued regardless of the TRACEON=NO setting to provide essential thread and TCB tracking information.

With PTF LU19035 applied, you can control whether the client IP address is displayed within these messages using the following startup option:

DISPLAY_CLIENTIP= Enables or disables the client IP address display in the affected messages. Valid Entries: NO or YES Default: NO

Additional Information

PTF LU19035 provides the DISPLAY_CLIENTIP parameter functionality for Datacom Server 15.1.
