Issue/Introduction

Customer is running Edge SWG Virtual Appliance in Vmware environment. 

Cause

The upgrade is failing because the ProxySG Virtual Appliance has active snapshots in the VMware environment. This prevents the new SGOS image from persisting through the boot cycle, causing the system to revert to the previous version.

Resolution

To resolve this, please follow these steps:

  1. Check for Snapshots: Log into your VMware vSphere/vCenter console and check the ProxySG Virtual Machine.
  2. Remove Snapshots: If any snapshots exist, please delete or consolidate them.
  3. Retry Upgrade: Once the snapshots are removed, re-attempt the upgrade using either the GUI or CLI.
  4. Set Default: Ensure the new version is selected as the "Default" boot system before restarting.
